Warradarge Wind Farm
Warradarge Wind Farm BIRD STRIKE INFORMATION
The Warradarge Wind Farm commenced commissioning in August 2020. Pre-construction studies indicated that the wind farm was low risk for bird and bat strikes and would have an insignificant impact on local and regional populations (Biota, 2012).
Any bird or bat strikes that are identified by wind farm maintenance personnel are recorded, collected and reviewed to determine species. No strikes have involved a conservation-listed species. The most impacted species are nankeen kestrels (7) and wedge-tailed eagles (3). Only one bat strike has been recorded (White-striped freetail bat).
In 2025, a dedicated monthly monitoring program commenced, which will assist in assessing the avifauna impact of the wind farm. The results of this program will be reported in 2026.
